Indian masala chai or Indian spice tea are generally loaded with medicinal properties. Adding various spices to a cup of tea not only enhance it’s flavor and taste but also provide multiple health benefits. Try making this brilliant concoction at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

What do I need to make a cup of Indian masala chai?

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 spoon of tea leaves

  • 1 small piece of grated ginger

  • 1 clove

  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

  • Pinch of black pepper powder

  • 1 crushed cardamom

  • 2 tablespoons of milk (optional-as per taste)

  • ½ teaspoon of sugar (optional- as per taste)

How to make Indian masala chai?

  • Boil 2 cups of water

  • Add tea leaves

  • Add all the spices one after another

  • Let the mixture boil for 10 minutes

  • Add milk and sugar

  • Allow boiling for another 5 minutes

  • Strain the mixture

  • Serve

How to ensure the goodness of Indian masala chai?

  • Do not have tea as the first thing in the morning. At least drink a glass of lemon water or pieces of fruit before consuming tea.

  • The best way to take Indian masala chai is with NOTHING, without any biscuits or any other savory items.

  • This chai to be taken in a normal sized cup, not in any humongous mug. Portion control is the key here. Excess tea does not provide any extra benefit but kills all its goodness.

  • One or maximum of two cups of tea is fine for a day. Having 6cups of tea a day create unnecessary health issues.

  • Tea should not be taken immediately before or after a meal as it hampers nutrient absorption.
